: )

Not only do I have the recent honor of being a proud new daddy, I now have the honor of once again being proud of my country. Go Obama!

September 29, 2008 19.75" 7lbs 2oz

Off to the hospital

We are on our way. Baby #2 will arrive today. Please send your good thoughts our way and baby's way. We have had some last minute rethinking of the name so for all of you used to Baby Josie please prepare for a possible retooling...

Tina Fey as Sarah Palin

And the parody that does not need to do a re-write to be funny

Oh so painful

Oldest presidential candidate ever and this is the person who would step forward to fill his seat if the need arises... Now it won't be the kids keeping me up at night

prepare for 5 minutes of a candidate who can't even effectively find the political platitudes to spout to cover the gaps in her knowledge

Last month up at the cabin

Sonja being silly

Momements before this video was captured Sonja said, "I got a nice haircut at that baby monkey haircut store."  So proud and so profound.

t minus ?

There are currently several unknown variables in my life, both personal as well as professional.  Not really sure what is going to happen at work, the group I have worked with for the past year and a half is about to undergo a major shake-up and I am not sure where the chips will fall.  Stress.  Baby #2 is due anytime now, this is great news, but not knowing WHEN just adds enough chaos to the daily routine that it makes all things slightly more stressful.

Then we start to move out beyond my local spheres of influence... past the families and friends which again aren't always stressful but do require a certain amount of energy in order to maintain.  Past that politics... I have decided to be fully engrossed in absorbing news but in true Minnesotian fashion I choose to repress all reactions to this news.  It turns out that repressing pigs, pitbulls and lipstick is libel to give one a tummy-ache.  Not healthy.... then beyond that there is this The Hadron Collider Controversy
Sigh.

Life during wartime (continued)

It has been almost 2 years since I first posted a small blurb on my blog about the odd disconnect between a nation at war and the general feeling of life as usual at home.

Well sadly nothing much has changed in the past 2 years. America seems bogged down by its inability to determine what we value. We fight amongst ourselves. The left and right tear each other apart and the indifferent middle shrugs and either is too dim witted to care or too busy making ends meet to engage.

Entropy: a doctrine of inevitable social decline and degeneration.

I had always pictured social decline as something that would be chaotic and tumultus but now I am starting to think perhaps it is something more insidious than that. It attacks us while we drive to the mall or watch TV. Entropy eats away at our institutions like time erodes rock into sand.

Perhaps it's just me, perhaps today is a bad day to post a 'written' blog thing. Life is generally good just stressful right now.

Anything, anything other than poop

Just to spare my loyal reader(s) from having to see the Christmas poo over and over. I figured I would just do a little post about not much.

Jenn and I have recently moved to the burbs and so far so good. The kitchen is huge and the yard is even bigger. No more airplane noise and a nice quiet cul-de-sac for the girls to grow up on. Still trying to unpack all of the boxes before baby #2 arrives. I have pretty much convinced myself that I will just be happy if we can get both of our cars in the garage.

On the work front my job is very very very stressful but in some ways rewarding. I am working with the newly formed renewable energy group so I have some feeling of doing good for the planet vs the standard I work for a large corporation that simply pillages the planets resources to line the pockets of the already obscenely rich.

Oh yeah, check out my new favorite webisode thing Dr. Horrible - best $6.00 I ever spent.

I have not golfed in 4 weeks and it will be another 10 days before I have the chance again. Really need to get out.

Well there you have it. I may have pushed the picture of poo further down the page but I think I may have replaced it with little more than a word picture of the aformentioned.

Poopy in the potty

Mark this historical date on your calendars. July 27, 2008 Sonja went poopy in the potty for the very first time.

Ummm....

This will make everyone wish I only wrote and didn't post vid clips. Thanks to New 5th for finding this treat. Hang in for the headbanging finish.

Text vs Pictures

Many of my friends let me know over and over again that they don't think my blog is bloggy enough. "It's just a bunch of pictures and video clips of your daughter." they whine.

I usually respond with I don't have enough time to write... I have a 2-year old, didn't you see the pictures? But it does bother me. I used to write almost everyday on this here thing and lately I just haven't had the time. So here goes.

As some of you may know we have sold our house and are in the process of moving to the South West Burbs. This may come as a shock to many of you especially those of you who have heard me rail against the burbs and its homogeneity. There are many reasons behind this decision - none of which I will go into here. In the end it just make sense for us.

So we have been crazy busy packing and cleaning and showing the house and signing paperwork on top of a having an active 2-year old and on top of very busy times for both of us at our jobs.

We miss our friends and realize that to some of you we have been negligent. Please forgive us.

We promise that once we are in a reasonably settled to have a house warming party that will be both casual and inviting. Until then I hope you enjoy living vicariously via photos and blogs of my life... after all isn't it so much easier to watch a video clip rather than read all of this clap-trap?
